In my "Attractors" series, I use a broad range of fly-tying techniques and materials. I incorporate parts cut from soda bottles or other single use plastics and wrappers. I begin by making an armature out of heavy steel wire and braze or solder more sections as needed. Once this "skeleton" is completed, I add both natural and synthetic materials, binding them to the armature with thread. My attractors pay homage to the incredible diversity of insect life, most of which we regard as an inconvenience and immediately kill, though they represent 90% of the diversity of life on earth.
