After Dinner Drinks
Fiberfill, lace pantyhose, thrifted picture frame, vintage wallpaper on plywood panel
15.5 x 15.5 x 3
I transform thrifted domestic furnishings into voluptuous upholstered sculptures that evoke the human body. Anchored by materials culturally coded as feminine: spandex, pantyhose, and vintage fabrics, they serve as both medium and metaphor. Through a feminist lens, I explore propriety, repressed sexuality, and grief.
My installations function as emotional repositories, holding space for hidden feelings and unspoken thoughts. Creases, folds, and bulges suggest what cannot be directly expressed, offering an erotically-charged dialogue between playfulness and discomfort. Subversion animates the work: fiber is bound and contorted, the soft made hard. My objects become invented décors inspired by childhood memories and the unseen labor of my mother and grandmothers.
