In her artistic practice, Scigousky offers an ecological lens through which to view her personal memories, experiences, and perspective. With a technicolor palette, she explores the relationship between her queerness, femininity, Greek-American culture, and childhood. Their practice allows them to authentically represent themself through a campy, sparkly, and highly exaggerated aesthetic. It's with the playful and intuitive experimentation of color, mark, and form that Scigousky embraces both tradition and modernity. Her work documents the ebbs and flow of growing out of an oppressive, religious, and gendered hierarchy and into an ever-changing, challenging, and better self.
