In Fallen Star, the body becomes both pilgrim and witness—caught between darkness and illumination. Torn fragments of image and text are suspended in a fragile equilibrium: a black-and-white sky dissolving into clouds, the faint silhouette of a figure reaching toward an unseen light, the quiet hum of paper and pigment layered like memories half-remembered.
Through the interweaving of photographic transfer, cyanotype, and raw painterly gesture, the work evokes a descent into the unconscious—a passage through the forest of doubt, desire, and faith. The figure’s gesture is at once yearning and surrender: a motion toward transcendence and toward the recognition of the body’s impermanence.
"I am a Mexican-born artist working across photography, poetry, painting, and sculpture. My practice explores memory, desire, and the invisible wounds that shape human experience. I work with time and transformation, materials that erode, burn, or fade, to reveal what persists beneath forgetting. My imagery often merges sacred and profane symbols, drawing from literature, philosophy, and religion to question how belief and loss coexist. I view my process as a dialogue between destruction and revelation, where form serves as a vessel for feeling rather than representation. Through my work, I invite viewers to enter the borderlands between the visible and the unseen, and to remember what has been silenced."
