For me, the kitchen table has always signified family- a place of gathering, conversation, and shared experience. It is where daily rituals unfold and where connections are reinforced through presence and exchange. Today, that traditional meeting place feels increasingly under strain. Distractions from television and digital media compete for attention, while broader social and political divisions shape how-and whether- we come together. What was once a consistent center of connection can now feel fragmented and uncertain. In my work, the kitchen table becomes both a symbol and a question: What does it mean to gather now?
