Greta Bell
 
Greta Bell is a lens-based artist exploring altered states of consciousness and chronic illness. Working across photography and material processes, she investigates the intersection between the body and the mind. Bell is from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and she received a BFA in Photography from Kent State University in 2023. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Studio Arts at Purdue University, where she serves as an Instructor of Record in the photography department. She exhibits her work nationally and internationally, most recently at The Arts Federation in Lafayette, Indiana, and Exposure Photo Gallery in Río Tercero, Argentina.
 
 
"My work explores the relationship between chronic illness and the altered states of perception I experience. Couch at Night extends these ideas through the familiar comfort of personal space transformed by nighttime, when I find myself searching the shadows even while knowing there is nothing to fear. The handmade frame physically represents the mind as a place where memories and thoughts can become lost or concealed, much like objects that disappear beneath shifting couch cushions."
