Amy Hiley
Amy Hiley is a British multidisciplinary artist born in 1989 in Oxford, UK, residing and working in the North East of England. Drawing on domestic rituals and archival methodologies, Amy is most known for her intricate assemblages and collections created through meticulous, long-term, repetitive practices. Everyday objects and images are gathered and transformed through labour-intensive digital and analogue processes, examining concepts of labour and the psychological impulse to collect, order and chronologise.
With over seven years’ professional experience as a freelance printmaker, alongside an established independent studio practice spanning almost two decades, Amy has worked with clients including the BBC and HarperCollins Publishers. Her work has been exhibited across the UK and internationally, with her printmaking works collected by clients worldwide.
‘Rhonia’s Bedtimes’ is an ongoing photographic series made up of over 1000 nightly photos of Amy’s young daughter’s bedtimes over a four-year period. Exploring themes of domestic routine, care and belonging, the series documents an intimate, everyday routine shared by parent and child. As an autistic artist and parent, Amy’s work also examines neurodivergent cognition, employing repetition and consistency to explore how patterns of connection are established and sustained, both through relationships with physical environments and within the familial structures that contribute to our understanding of home.
